Note: This is a work in progress, not all the apparel and outfits in Fallout 76 are listed here. Let me know if you find an item not listed here.
General Info
Fallout 76 Apparel System
In Fallout 76, you can wear outfits, accessories, armor and baselayers/underarmor together the same time. However, there is a hierarchy on what will be shown when you wear them together. Generally outfits will replace the appearance of armor and underarmor.
Outfits: No stats, purely cosmetics. They will replace the appearance of your armor/underarmor. All have 0.1 weight.
Armor: Armor is divided into regular armor and armor that have unique appearance (what is shown here). Armor with unique appearances will not show underarmor underneath. Armor give resist stats.
Underarmor: Will appear under regular armor. Can be modified to give stats. These all have 1.1 weight
Accessories: Headgear can be worn on top of outfits, same with mouth/eye accessories and special items like the Prisoner Collar. The exception are items like certain gas masks or full face masks that prevent mouth masks/eyeglasses from being worn at the same time. Some may lower stats (i.e. gas masks) while others protect you from airborne diseases (i.e. masks).
Obtaining Apparel & Outfits in Fallout 76
Getting the apparel items in Fallout 76 can be an adventure in itself.
Some apparel items have random spawns – the locations shown below may not have it
Some apparel items always spawn there (i.e. Nuka Cola themed clothing and Lab Coats for example)
Some apparel items can be bought from vendors (stock is random but for some items the vendor will always carry it). Check the Whitespring Resort vendor especially.
FO76 Fashion
Some of you may prefer browsing all of the Apparel at a specialized fashion site like we have for other MMOs. We have created the Fallout 76 Fashion site exactly to accommodate that and makes it easier to link specifically to an item to share with your friends.
Found next to the Apparel vendor Flauresca in Whitespring Resort (lower level)
Eastern Regional Penitentiary, second floor inside a cell in Solitary. You need to open the cell first using the security terminal next room (level 2 hacking)

Hey, I got one that you don’t have and is pretty creepy 🙂
it’s called the Tattered Mole Head and Tattered Mole Outfit.
I believe I found it in the Dolly Sods Wilderness upstairs on a shelf.
There’s a house just north of Camden Park where you can loot the Wedding Ring as well. It’s on a dead radroach who is sitting on the toilet wearing a bowler hat.
also one near nuka cola plant in a house….a Roach Wearing a hat and cane sitting on toilet also has a wedding right.
Aelita Rose
Some additions:
– Witch’s Hat can also be found upstairs in the Pumpkin House.
– Gray Knit Cap also spawns in Pleasant Valley Ski Resort on a table near some workbenches. There are also spawns for two identical Ski Hats that are red in color (one of them is prefixed with the word “clean” but they look the same to me lol). I was also able to pick up the Ski Outfit and Navy & Orange Ski Outfit from the bunk-beds in the cabins so there’s no need to have the key card from the Raiders quest line for those.
– Military Cap & Military Fatigues also spawn in Camp McClintock (on table in the room with the workbenches or the footlockers by the bunk-beds). I’ve also seen Sunglasses and Green Bandana’s spawn in the same place you said the Army Helmet spawns.
– Mining Helmets of various different colors can also be found on the shelves in a building in the town on the left most side of the Ash Heap. I forget the name of the area but iirc it’s near the workshop.
– The Sack Hood with Straps can be found on the roof of the Red Rocket building at Seneka Rocks Visitor Center.
– The Clown Outfit can also be found inside the house at the Lakeside Cabins workshop.
You can also find a Union Hat in the Graveyard on top of the Hopewell cave
Taiwan Wolf
There’s an Assaultron Helmet I crafted~ recipe was learned randomly from Scrapping their heads (not sure if it was the gun or scrap head, I scrap both all the time.
The front closes when you pull out weapon.
(Scrap Assaultron Head 1, Steel 2.)

You can also pick up plans for the Marine Wetsuit, it spawns at Sunday Brother’s Cabin. You might have to server jump a lot to get it to spawn though, its pretty rare. There’s a little shack with some work benches and barrels. The plans will be on one of the barrels.
Thank you so much. This guide is so comprehensive and complete. So many guides like this out there right now simply mention the item without giving a location. This is so nice. Again, thank you.
Oh yes I hate that, they just copy/paste a list from the primaguides and then just post online to gain traffic. Pretty much all the wikis out there right now

I’ll admit, I was slightly (immensely) sad when I saw that the Tattered Field Jacket doesn’t seem to be available as an item. T’was my favorite outfit in 4, along with the wrapped cap + gas mask combo. You can find it on Raider corpses, but none I’ve found have been lootable.
BearinTheWoods
I’ve found one not on this list: the Hunter’s Long Coat. Bought it off of a wandering Responder Bot vendor for 880 caps https://i.imgur.com/ONZjzQ4.jpg

That’s the Hunters Longcoat I believe. Longfellow’s coat from Fallout 4
Reapher
oh i need that one ^^

Any idea where you saw that vendor?
BearinTheWoods
It looked like a Wandering Responder vendor, could have a pattern similar to Grahm. I saw him outside the Charleston Station Vendor however
Hosh Games (Kohamura)
Do you sell this coat?
Taiji Tu
My friend found an outfit and he can’t remember where, he didn’t even remeber looting it, in french it’s called : “Combinaison de camouflage des fôrets “. If someone know where…all i know it’s that he find it at the very beginning of the game beetween vault 76 and flatwoods.
the wandering responder bot that appears sometimes outside charleston station
Ärmätèsz
The bot appears outside of charleston station as well, most people are used to that one spot but currently I’m knowing of 5 spots. From knowledge basis and sharing info around the bot that sells the clothes only shows up in the forest zone.

The Brotherhood Fatigues is no longer an outfit. It’s is now considered underarmor and will replace whatever underarmor you are wearing if you chose to use it. The name has also changed to Scribe’s something or another. My apologies for not being able to recall the name change as I am not in game at the moment. The appearance of the item remains the same
Flame486
I found the Pastor’s Vestments in a Church northeast of the place that says 86B on the map. It should be northwest of the town called Helvetia.
Check the second floor, on the table to the left of the Weapons workbench.
Noticed no one mentioned this, but the Halloween Witch Costume https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a25d253efb479e563d6f5140ddecb758dad5e3543f3f791f56bbdad60462c770.png Found from a Trick-or-Treater body which is a woman dressed as a Witch found dead, she has a chance to give Plans for the Costume and Hat to create. Located in “The Mire” is a random event that spawns at the northern 65 road marker on the map. Had to do multiple server hops to finally get one, but your mileage may vary, I found it easier to do with a friend also server hoping and then join their server and loot the same body.
I have been checking this spot, and I have found some of these little “event” spawns just like this in other parts of the maps too, not thinking about it until doing this. On the back side of death claw island is another random event spawn, but i have found nothing except ammo in that one.
Yeah, I find this one the easiest being right next to the spawn location for each server hop. Also if you do see one of the three trick-or-treaters, do not loot the plans unless you want to. The Halloween outfits all share a pick up timer like most items in the game, meaning it won’t respawn until server reset.
Most items have random positions so screenshots showing the location where they were found doesn’t mean someone else will find it there. For example, I was looking for the combat helmet. I went to the exact spot show in the screenshot and there was a faded visor there instead. Same when I’ve gone to other locations where someone found a particular item. It really comes down to a lot of RNG luck.
Nefash
I went back a different time and it was there. One time out of a few visits so it’s definitely random.

For anyone wondering where to get plans to craft combat armour, you get them as a reward for doing the free states quests. They are the quests you get around Abbie’s bunker in the north east part of the map.
