Snow-Covered Parcels

swtor-snow-covered-parcels

Snow-Covered Parcels are the main currency used in this event. You get them randomly by throwing the Life Day Snowball Bomb at other players with a 15% chance to receive parcels. Despite what the description for the snowball bomb says, you can get parcels from other players even if they have the debuff from getting hit by a snowball (you can also click off the debuff manually). However, if this debuff was applied by you then you won’t get any parcels out of it. Throwing snowballs at companions and NPCs also works in recovering parcels.

  • Tip: You can just throw it at your own companion and click off their debuff everytime.

The first time you get a snow-covered parcel you will get a popup window and an achievement. From here on you will see a yellow text on your screen everytime you recover a parcel.

Snow-Covered Parcels are tradeable but the ones brought do not count towards the achievement

Overheated Life Day Droid

Around Coruscant Senate, Dromund Kaas City Memorial place, and Nar Shaddaa promenade (both upper and lower) you will find Life Day Droids that you can throw your snowball bombs. They will give you the parcel and disappear after a while. They have a chance to respawn as a rarer version called Overheated Life Day Droid. This guy has the chance to drop decorations and you can pick 1 out of 4 colored Life Day Holo Trees.

swtor-overheated-gift-droid

swtor-overheated-gift-droid-droumund-kaasswtor-overheated-gift-droid-coruscant1swtor-overheated-life-day-droid-nar-shaddaa

  • Apparently you can still get decorations even if other players have used snowballs on him so just keep spamming your snowballs on it for decorations until he disappears. The more players the better since they will need to overwrite your own snowball debuff for you to keep getting stuff from it.
  • The normal Life Day Droids only give parcels with 15% chance but these overheated droids have an additional 15% to give you decorations
  • Life Day droids stay around for 5 minutes and then respawn ~4 minutes later as either the normal or the Overheated version
  • Overheated droids will appear as red enemy when they first spawn but do not attack them. The first throw of the snowball will turn them green.

This same droid is also responsible for the Holiday Hero achievement below. However the achievement is buggy and you may need to get several decorations from the droid for it to trigger.

  • Moondust

Santa Claus is coming tooooooon townnnnn!

    • Skidblade

…and he brought his friend with him too.

      • Dr. Mike Wendell

Hey, it’s my ex mother in law! 🙂

        • Holyfrog

          You married demon spawn?

      • Darth Ji’inx

        Dark Lord Krampus XP

  • Harold

Why are they selling the ugly Life Day Robe with a snowball on the market? I think the original one looks better without the flying orb around you. That would be 90 Parcels only for the armor.

  • MasterKast

omg wow. such new staff. i can sub again!

  • Emperor of the Lepi

    What about that snowball cannon?

  • Gladeye

time to throw lots of snowballs!

  • Emperor of the Lepi

Great they fkced up the Rakghoul event.
After 10 sec you’re kick out of the tunnel…

    Oh BioWare!

    • KShrike

      Well of course.

You’re not exactly supposed to be down there unless the rakghoul event is live.

      • Emperor of the Lepi

With the news terminals on the fleet it sould be live, right?

        • Sadriel_Fett

Yes. It was supposed to go live this morning. Something’s bugged with it. As soon as I picked the mission up on the fleet, it automatically cleared it as completed and gave me the rewards for it. Some people are saying to log completely out of the game and log back in, but this didn’t fix it for me and several others. I’ll try again later.

          • Lol

            Everything is bugged with it:

            1. The lead-in mission completes automatically and immediately after you receive it. You get the reward but now you don’t know what to do and where to go.

            2. The mission to vaccinate people in the city doesn’t work. You can vaccinate them but the mission counter doesn’t increase, so you can never complete the mission.

            3. You can’t enter the tunnels without being immediately booted back to Fleet after 10 sec.

            Typical Bioware.

            • BrianDavion

typical right because the rakghoul event ALWAYS is broken

              • Lol

It never was as broken as it is now. 🙂

And, of course, the official word from Bioware: We won’t fix it, wait for the next one. Typical Bioware. But I repeat myself.

      • Dr. Mike Wendell

I have the same issue. Occasionally when I log into a character, I show up in the tunnels as well. Completely random for me with which character it is but it happens at least once a day.

  • KShrike

Don’t forget that in order to maintain high raid DPS, you must maintain 100% uptime on the snowball debuff on the boss, kappa.

  • Leah

does parcel stuff that used to be bought with CC unlock in collections? that’s pretty much the only question I have.

    • Darth Twinge

      It depends.
I bought the full Life day robe outfit with parcels and it did not give me credit in collections and cannot be unlocked with cc. So you can only wear it on the character that purchased it.
However, I also got the Wampa pet with parcels and he gave me credit in collections and appears unlockable.

  • Ben Gimson

Skipped this last year since the rewards on the vendor were shite. Just spent half an hour throwing snowballs at stuff. Got 2 parcels. Think I’ll pass :S

    • Lol

Dulfy should double-check her drop rate info. From my experience, the drop rate of the parcels has halved compared to the last year. Oh, and the cooldown on the snowball has doubled. Typical Bioware and their nerfs…

      • Ben Gimson

Aye it’s the worst ‘event’ I’ve seen yet. Really, really tedious :S

      • Hail Santa

The CD on the snowball is the same as always. And I’ve been getting parcels regularly. It’s always been a 15% chance.

        • Rejavarti

Cool down on the cannon is 6 seconds, the bomb is 12 seconds, against my companion, I use both of them, and makes it quicker to get parcels

    • Emperor of the Lepi

I misses to buy more wall freezer last year (from the GTN). Now I can trade them in for parcels.

    • Rex

The way parcels work is you get a chance to earn one when you put the debuff on something, I got about 30 in the past hour going after the Overheated Droids. The more people tossing snowballs at a target, the more you can sit there, spam the same target, and earn parcels

      • Ben Gimson

Ah, didn’t spot any when I was on the Promenade. Got bored after thirty minutes of spamming it. Figured it was either bugged or bad. Don’t think I’ll bother at any rate, but I appreciate the tip.

  • Christoph Hoelzinger

Someone Information when Cartel Market updates on european servers ?

    • Emperor of the Lepi

CM updates are around 18/19 o’clock (CET).

  • Lodaine

Wait, so all the gear that cost Cartel Coins last year can now be bought with parcels? As someone who paid for them with cartel coins last year, screw you Bioware.

    • Vulpis

Since when has ‘Buy easily with real cash vs. grind the event’ *not* been a thing? Especially since people had to wait a year to even be able to grind them at all/ Way to show the Lifeday spirit, guy!

  • rathvar

I agree with Lodaine this is bullshit and i want my money back. Bought the life day crap the first year it came out and the deco stuff last year, fuck you Bioware

    • Seph

Their strategy is to make rare things not rare so you buy new rare things. Always has been.

      • Holyfrog

They were never rare items. Literally everyone had the chance to get them.

    • Rex

You had it for 1 or 2 years before anyone else could just earn it, So BioWare should give you your money back, then charge you a fee for early access..

  • SupRun

I got the sleigh and cyan sphere last year, might just go for the regen this year.
Also I’m going to assume the armor is BoP which makes it useless unless you’re going for the Santa Claus look.

  • DirtyCasul

lmfao, muppets spent CC for these and crying hard now

    • Animal

      Me sad.

  • Sarigar

As someone who bought the Life Day stuff with CC a year ago, I say “I don’t care if they’re available for parcels now, because I got a year of value out of them, and also because I’m not poor as a church mouse and don’t care that I spent $20 or whatever a YEAR ago.”

    • Dr. Mike Wendell

      Must be nice.

Gotta admit that I just bought the stuff off of the GTN when it was on sale again in June or July(?).

      • Sarigar

I’m stuck with two eternally howling wampa cubs I was never able to sell, but those are the perils of speculation!

  • Alkuzar

Anyone know how to get the Holiday Hero title? Which the advertised on the event info on the site? I already got all the achievements from the Life Day Event.

    • Festivus

Unfortunately, its not a title, only an achievement. It would make a nice title, though

      • Alkuzar

I copied this from the official swtor site, look at the last part.

        FEATURED REWARDS:

        Red Life Day Holo-Tree

        Blue Life Day Holo-Tree

        Pink Life Day Holo-Tree

        Green-Gold Life Day Holo-Tree

        “Holiday Hero” title

    • Festivus

Oh, and just to add, if you didn’t get that particular achievement, you get it from the Overheated Life Day Droids

    • BrianDavion

holiday hero doesn’t exist it’s something that got removed but they keep mentioning it due to beucratic interia.

  • Esmer

What about “the Winter Warrior” title?

    • Secundum

That’s been and gone-it was never a life day thing-more of a winter only thing.

  • Ry

The only thing I’m disappointed by is that the decorations from the vendor are Bind on Pickup, which means I can’t donate it to the guild. I was really looking forward to decorating our guild ship for the holiday 🙁

    • Dakhath

For the cartel market ones, I think you still can donate them from the decorations preview menu.

  • whydidyoutypethat

if you actually gave bw money for this stuff yeah… dont cry

  • Naq

Last year: Boo hoo hoo, Biofail needs to add new things to the vendors, and I don’t want to spend cc on the event items.
This year: Boo hoo hoo, Biofail needs to take these things off the vendors, I spent cc on these event items.
Iiiiits beginning to sound a lot like Bitch-mas….everywhere, I read.

    • Holyfrog

What server are you on? I want an invite to your err Stronghold.

    • Nozyspy .

Its nice that certain things maintain their rarity. Both for aesthetic appeal and also because anyone who understands the quantities of money it takes to be a collector of rare items in this game realises that you need to make wise investments in order to be able to afford them!

In any case, as it turned out, the Wampa Rugs take so many parcels to get that they will still retain some monetary value in a few months time! So all is not lost.

  • Delta1138

    YAY LIFE DAY!!!

  • Secundum

REALLY not liking the current trend of making Cartel items on the vendor market. Either scrap the cartel market or make it exclusive-don’t fuck over people who spent real money.

    • AbnerDoon

Yeah I am really surprised that they put it all up. I thought for sure the J0-1Y wouldn’t be here.

Not going to complain too hard though as I couldn’t afford it on the GTN last year. What sucks is people who still have active copies of all this stuff up on the GTN still. That market is now dead and it was a pricey market.

      • Leah

I’m not entirely sure its dead. case in point – BBA contracts can be gotten by anyone through gameplay. and yet they still sell for a bit. not everyone wants to spend hours grinding parcels. so people will still buy those.

    • John Kosto

You gave CC to buy these items not so that no one else can have them unless they spend CC as well, but so that you can have them earlier and enjoy them for 1-2 years more. I for one am 100% pro on getting EVERYTHING non exclusive.

      • Secundum

Yeah, I would be too…If it WAS everything.

    • xking5v

it was new a whole year ago, get the fuck over it

    • guest

Well unless I am mistaken the cartel market versions can be unlocked via collections for use on all your toons, which is a pretty big advantage considering all the parcels you’d have to farm.

  • Ry

Anyone know if the Snow Cannon also gives parcel/deco from overheated droids?

    • Yes it works but beware that the cannon give a different debuff icon compared to the regular bombs so you may need another person with the cannon to override your own debuffs to get the decos

      • Secundum

What about the Snowball-firing Speeder? Does that count?

        • Nope, it is just an animation.

          • Secundum

            ……Why Bioware…Why…

    • Rejavarti

Yes it does, I use both the cannon and bomb to get the parcels, makes it quicker

  • Stuart Johnson

Sleigh I implies there will be a Sleigh II, but its now fourth Life Day and there still isn’t one.

    • Darth Twinge

Nah, it’s just a Boba Fett joke methinks.

      • Sarigar

        OHHHHHH now I get it!

      • Holyfrog

You are correct. For those that don’t get it, because there obviously are those
        Sleigh I
        Slave I

    • Secundum

3rd actually. It didn’t start right from the get-go.

  • Rarrity

Question. Will the item bought from vendor (like tinsel bomb) appear and be able to unlock in collections?

    • Rondowar

      nope

    • Dr. Mike Wendell

Tinsel bomb is listed as 400 CC’s for me for account wide unlock. I got it last year though. Not sure if buying it via parcels this year would make it show up as being able to get account unlocked.

  • SOTIREDMAN

I’m sure its been said before, but Bio could you please put a little bit more effort into your events in the coming year? These were only ever mildly interesting the first day anyone ever did them. You don’t even have to hand out special prizes, just mix things up a little T_T

    • Enodia

Agree, but writing this in a fansite and hoping BW would read it is sorta… well, moot

      • SOTIREDMAN

I understand that, but then you could say the same thing about making a suggestion on their forums :P.

  • Uncle-Archie

Who doesnt like Life Day,,,i always enjoy it.

  • McBurney

    SWG>SWTOR Events

    • Vicious

Honestly, as a big fan of SWH, both are equally lame. This is just as bad as that bullshit halloween event where you have to go around tricking NPCs for candy. Life Day in SWG was pretty lame as far as I can recall as well. The only thing I miss is the extra buffs you could get, but that game was all about stacking buffs sky high.

      • Evenmoardakka

Dont need swoop racing, we need functional pazaak and sabacc tables.

    • Secundum

      What ARE you smoking?

  • Dr. Mike Wendell

Just a fyi, the cooldowns between the cannon and the thrown snowballs are not shared. You can use both at the same time. Makes it easier to rack up the parcels and the trees.

Also you can get both the parcels and the tress dropped with the same attack I’vee noticed. Had that happen a couple of times now.

  • Chris

Just so you know, you can throw the snowball at anything that you can target. People, birds, dead corpses, and they all can return the parcel. The parcel is rewarded by the action, not the target you’re throwing the snowball at.

In short, if you’re tired of mind-numbingly chasing around droids in Coruscant, then go do your dailies, and slot the snowball on your main action bar. Whenever the cd is up, throw it at whatever you’re fighting. That way you continue to get parcels while you’re playing the game.

  • Nozyspy .

Well i guess the Life Day cartel market pack pack from last year that i was saving to sell is now worthless…

    • Illusive Man

If you can get items in collections from your pack, you’re still fine. Even though you had a year to profit.

    • Secundum

Pretty much. The best time to sell holiday stuff is in June/July.

  • To Snowball or not to Snowball

So let me get this straight… This entire event involves… Throwing snowballs at some NPCs or other players (and no, I can’t throw them at my own companions), waiting for the 12 second cooldown, and throwing more snowballs. With the small chance of actually getting a parcel out of it.

And you do this over and over and over again…

On the one hand, I don’t have to actually do much. So I could do something else while doing this. But it also just seems incredibly…. dull and lacking in content compared to the other events? No real quests or anything, just tossing snowballs at things.

    • Jarvis Sapphire

You -can- toss them at your companions, it’s just a pain to get them positioned so they aren’t ‘to close’.

      • Emperor of the Lepi

Just walk forward, then hit the snowball.

      • Darth Twinge

Ive found that an easy way to position is if I jump up on a railing, like the ones on fleet or near the Overheated droids on DK. That way I’m slightly above the companion.

      • Dragon

        *too

    • Kaelani

Yes, you can throw them at your own companions. You just can’t be too close when doing so… back pedal away from them and click on the item.

    • Dmitriy Ilyin

you can use your companions as a target. Just try to jump on smth. Must be more then 1m between you and comp.

    • Jeid

Welcome to SWTOR. Your constant grind is rewarded by yet another constant grind…

    • Darth Twinge

Ohhhh, its not that bad! Just bizarre. But if you ever saw the Holiday special that Life Day comes from, it was pretty bizarre too. 😛
I got the snowball cannon last night and it has a 6 second CD compared to the snowball’s 14 second CD. So you can put both on your ability bar and hit your companion twice with the cannon while the snowball is on CD. I made about 60 parcels in just a half hour of play doing that. just make sure you right click off the buffs they get each time you hit them.

  • Dmitriy Ilyin

Did anyone get “Life Day Cheer” buff? It seems to me it increase chance by receive Snow-Covered Parcels.
Question is – How to get it?

    • Dr. Mike Wendell
      • Emperor of the Lepi

        You googled old/worng information.
        🙂

Because there is no Live Day Tinsel Bomb on the Cartel Market right now.

        • Dr. Mike Wendell

That’s because if you read the article, all of the previous Cartel market items are now sold for the parcels. Not my fault gamepedia is out of date. The information about the buff though is still valid.

          Go troll somewhere else.

        • EleniRPG

Wow, someone’s touchy. You weren’t even being as troll-y as the person who accused you of trolling. Oh well 🙂

    • Secundum

      It doesn’t.

  • David W

Hmm, with the exception of the Freezer unit, which can be repurposed as a “cooling unit” for the computer room in my stronghold, I don’t particularly want any of these items. So I guess I’ll get the snowball thing on my main and start throwing at mobs before i kill them.

    • K

How do you NOT love the Wampa rug!!!???

      • David W

I suppose it might fit into the “men’s dorm” room of my Jedi Academy

    • Cys

      Dead mobs work also.

  • Michael Ryan

Do the Life Day Robes from Master of Ceremonies have the same orb animation as the set from the Cartel Market?

  • Vicious

A quick tip for grinding parcels with no interference from other players. Just fill a room in your stronghold with the maximum number of companion decorations (helps if you’ve unlocked alliance companions). By the time the last companion is dusted the first few have already had the debuff wear off. You can stand in one place, and only have to target and throw. *Vendor personnel also work.

    • Nick Foster

Or simply stand in your stronghold with a companion out. Each time you hit them you can click off the debuff. No need to change targets.
If the companion is too close move near a piece of furniture until they hop on top of it.
If you use the cannon + snowball you can average a little over 100 parcels an hour.

also grinding Heroics. You can also get parcels from mobs, not just players/NPC’s. Since you’re also killing them as you go, no need to worry about other players.

      • Lol

You can get a parcel even from snowballing the dead body of a mob.

  • GavinDowning

So the Lifeday decorations you can get from the Master of Ceremonies ALSO cannot be given to the guild stronghold. What is up with so many decorations being restricted from being in the guild strongholds?

    • Secundum

It’s because these aren’t proper cartel ones-these are the ‘poor mans’ version you get using parcels.

      • GavinDowning

Except these are old ones; they’re not available by cartel coins anymore, either.

        • Secundum

          GTN is a thing. *Shrug*

          • GavinDowning

Which doesn’t benefit Bioware at all. My point is that a ton of decorations (mostly event-related) are unable to be donated to the guild. It’s uneven. Even the new Life Day decorations… some can be donated to the guild, some can’t be. It’s uneven and unpredictable.

I was also very disappointed by this, and the bind on pickup comm-purchased decos added in 4.0 cannot be given to a guild either. I’d be glad to pay to unlock with credits, but it’s like they just forgot about guild strongholds.

Because the developers have completely stopped caring about pleasing or accomidating their player base.

  • AbnerDoon

Already got the J0-1Y now working on the tree centerpieces. After those making a run for a few of the freezer units. 😀

  • Chalupar

Farming with companions is not working? 🙁

    • Darth Twinge

Should be. I did some last night while waiting for a que to pop.

    • Secundum

It works fine-were you remembering to remove the buffs?

  • ArchivusLegacy(Ebon Hawk)

I just got three parcels in a row with Kaliyo, also two parcels in a row hitting Nerfs on Alderaan? Lucky me?

Kinda sad that Dulfy hasn’t seen fit to acknowledge the tanking of the Rakghoul event on her site. I would think that that’s something newsworthy in SWTOR that people would want to be kept up on.

    • Risqu’e

Ummmm….This site isnt a list of bugs. It’s news from Bioware and game strategies.

Bioware hasn’t acknowledged the problem so why would Dulfy?

      • DirtyRat

What do you mean by saying Bioware hasn’t acknowledged the problem?

Does a dev post on the forums explaining that they know what the problem is but can’t fix it until the event is over not enough anymore?

I am not the biggest Bioware fan in the world but the constant bashing is getting to much now.

Till I saw the draft which was of 8135 dollars, I accept that my friend’s brother was like really generating cash in his free time with his pc. . His aunt’s neighbor has done this for only 9 months and by now repaid the loan on their home and bought a new Car .Look here for details.

Why throw a snowball when there are people selling stacks and stacks on fleet? With a drop rate of 30% at best could there be a guide to this exploit since I can easily weather a 10 min ban.

  • starguardace

Are the snow covered parcels useless after today? Should I use them up on the vendor now?

    • ArchivusLegacy(Ebon Hawk)

      Yup.
