SWTOR New Nightlife Event Items and Updates

SWTOR New Nightlife Event Items and Updates for the 2017 edition.

Getting Started

If you are unsure of how to get started with the new Nightlife event, consult this guide here on the basics.

This event will run from June 13, 217 until August (no end date given yet)

What’s New This Year?

KIngpin’s Rancor and Vectron Magnus mount that were previously from Kingpin Slot machines have been replaced with Vectron BWL Wraith and Gamorrean Guard items. They have the same drop chance as before the Kingpin Rancor and Vectron Magnus speeder. Kingpin Rancor and Vectron Magnus still drops from the slot machines but are also purchaseable with Golden Certificates.

Costs to gamble have gone up. Smuggler chips now costs 2k each (up from 1k) and Kingpin chips now costs 75k each (up from 50k).

New quest to use your macrobinoculars to scan for cheating.

New Quest

There is a repeatable quest (daily?) to scan for cheating at the Sabacc tables. Just use the macrobinoculars provided and scan for the tables on either side. There are about 12 targets to scan and one of them is the cheating device (it is random each time). Completing this quick quest give you 1 Kingpin token.

Decorations

  • Reeberus

Nice to see they added a bunch of stuff! Wasn’t too sure I’d go there with only 2 new things, but with all there is now, I’ll sure go there and spend a few millions.

  • Alexander Delorean

It took 200k to get Wrath mount and 3mil+ to not get anything except certificates >< Screw it xD im going to save money for Manaan stronghold.

  • Kubrickian

Got the wrath mount early on and with another 10mil only using kingpin chips when I had the ‘luck’ buff got the Gamorrean guard. Some of the best decorations yet made in the game.

    • J Mark McBride

Was the contract for the Gamorrean legacy bound?

      • Darth Ji’inx

        Bind to Legacy 🙂

      • Kubrickian

        yes

  • Sorrai

I love it! Great prizes! 🙂 I’m looking forward to this event.

  • Nick Emory

Can anyone confirm that you get the rancor achievement if you buy it from the vendor?

    • Styke

Just testet it: Buying the Rancor gives you the achievement and it can be refunded immediately without losing the achievement.

      • John Kosto

Ooooh that’s cool… Until they “fix” it

        • Dr. Mike Wendell

You can buy and refund on the new decorations as well to get the achievement for them. May be intended.

        • Risqu’e

All of the social armors do that too and they never fixed those so…

      • Nick Emory

        Good to know!

    • kingofnipple69

      yup

      • Nick Emory

        Thanks!

  • Phillip Chappell

how do i get gold cerfs? i played slots but only got more tokens

    • 0.3% drop from smuggler and 4% drop from kingpin

  • CrumpetTrumpet

Does the Gamorrean work the same as the ones deeper in Nar Shaddaa, where he shoulder-rushes an enemy and sends them flying a good twenty feet? It would be disappointing if we couldn’t subject enemies to the same annoying mechanics the player has to deal with.

  • Simi

And of course Bioware decided to be assholes and made all those decorations bind to legacy so you can’t donate them to guild via the guild bank, nor can you donate them for credits

    • Dr. Mike Wendell

Eric said that wasn’t the intent and they’re looking into it.

  • Ben Gimson

Does the blue speeder still drop? The Opus, I think?

    • Nick Emory

That one has always been a buy item from the original vendor. The Magnus used to drop from the kingpin slots, but the blue vectron is bought with gold certs. Idk how many off the top of my head. Hope this helps!

      • Ben Gimson

Ah, cheers! Couldn’t remember the details it’s been so long. Will have to double check the vendor but I don’t remember seeing it there, so maybe they removed it. But thanks for the info either way 😀

  • John Kosto

That sideboob is the best thing I have seen in SWTOR in a very long time

    • Leah
      • Darth Twinge

yep. I do like it better in black though

        • Leah

but… you can just dye the original. I suppose if you don’t have the original, then this one is nice, relatively simple to get substitute… but .. its still just a recolor and not even particularly involved one :/

    • DerpDude

Yea, only reason why the Scorpio chapter in Kotfe was worth repeating o.O

      • Deshik

wat, how is that chapter special to the sideboob? 😀

        • DerpDude

A female NPC “spy” have the same chest piece…if not the whole outfit.

  • EleniRPG

I love the decorations and the Pearlescent Cruiser! Can’t wait to get in game tonight.

  • Harston

    Wow… That sucks…

  • Dr. Mike Wendell

Dulfy, I don’t see this listed in either of your articles but there’s a box on a chair in the left hand corner by the medic when you enter the casino giving the House Money mission. Gives you coins to start and you have to play the machines 10 times.

    Hope this helps

    • Dr. Mike Wendell

Just to clarify, this mission is for returning characters. You don’t get it the first time you go there.

  • David Hill

I’m glad I saved up a bunch of certificates last time! I like the new stuff!

  • j’oe

so far: bought 250 kingpin coins.
results: 2 vectron wraiths and 3 gamorreans.
all legacy and i dont want any of this, only to get achievements done.

    • j’oe

3 wraiths, 4 gamorreans, and got enough certificates for the rancor and the magnus.. still wondering whats the hidden achievement

      • Darth Twinge

I think its the one where the slot machine explodes.

      • val

so if you buy the rancor you get the achievement for winning the rancor?

        • j’oe

yep. buying the rancor and the vectron magnus gives you the achievement. and since they have a bind timer, you can just earn them and sell them back. so 30 certs nets you both achievements.

      • Rint

Blowing up a slot machine is the hidden unless they added another one.

  • Bosses in operations and flashpoints drop a varying amount of Smuggler’s Casino Chips, not sure about any other bosses but these two types are confirmed; I got 40 chips from running solo versions of Boarding Party (15 chips run 1, 14 chips run 2) and Foundry (11 chips). Someone on Reddit said the amount varies from 2-6 chips, my three runs saw it vary from 1-5.

    • I just got a Kingpin Chip from Capt Shivanek in solo Taral V.

  • Naq

Unique and interesting rewards from gameplay? What is this, literally every other mmo?

  • snakedoctor

Any chance the Gamorrean companion unlocks in collections or legacy panel?

    • Sozinho

Bound to Legacy, can´t be unlocked.

      • snakedoctor

One so far, now who gets to keep him?

  • Havik79

Damn so even if you get the comp its not unlocked in collections, damn.
Was not expecting them to jack the prices up so much.
What the dance floor and Mic deco.

  • Eban

    as exciting as a rash

  • ShadowGirl

Spending 1 mill of someone else’s generously donated money, I was able to obtain 20 certificates (bought pearlescent cruiser, and the gold droid), obtained the vectron mount and got the bodyguard companion.

    • We’re all soldiers now!

On what machine? Smuggler or Kingpin?

      • ShadowGirl

I only bought Smuggler chips, but you get the good stuff from the Kingpin machines with the Kingpin chips you earn from gambling with the Smuggler ones.

  • Nottingham

Its also worth mentioning that flashpoint and Op’s bosses drop bother types of tokens while the event is running. Quite a lot of them too.

    • Leah

      group, or solo or both?

  • kopeć

Is companion legacy bound or char bound?

    • Sozinho

Legacy bound. I earned one and now can´t decide which alt will use him LOL

  • Got the wraith in my first hour. 4+ hours and 50 mil wasted later and only 50 gold certs to show for it. I want that companion damnit…..

    • perra

If you manage to spend 50mil in 4hours it sounds like you bought Kingpin coins directly and didnt play the Smuggler slots. In that case I understand your low win ratio. If you bought only Smuggler coins, played on the smugglers slots to get kingpin coins and then played the kingpin slots only when having the Feeling lucky-buff, you probably would have spent like 2 mil instead for the same results.

    • j’oe

you got bad luck. i got 4 gamorreans and 4 mounts spending less than you. and enough certs for the rancor and magnus for achievements. and i wasnt using the feeling lucky buff

  • Guest

What is thos “cost efficient” method? Smuggler slots don’t drop the speeder, or companion, only the Kingpin machines do.

    • Havik79

Buy the 2k ones, I have bought 500, and gotten about 80 free kingpin ones, and 8 gold certs from the 2k ones, and 3 more gold certs from the free kingpin ones.

    • HMHero

Use the smuggler coins to get the kingpin coins, not hard to figure out.

    • Fred Garvin

      “Cost efficient” method:

      1. Uninstall SWTOR
      2. Go to the nearest real-life casino.
      3. Find middle-aged worn down single person who clearly can’t gamble to save their life.
      4. Buy them cheap booze until they give you cash to win big and take them away to a life of excitement and romance.
      5. Leave them passed out on the nickel slots while you escape with your winnings and maybe an ounce of self-respect.

  • CrumpetTrumpet

Bought 10 kingpin tokens just to test my luck at the start. Got a wraith on the third one. Followed by 5mil worth of smuggler’s/kingpin chips on constant buff, I got another three wraiths and finally the companion, along with 30~ish certs.

The Gamorrean can be dressed up, sans helmet. Has underclothes so you can’t show off that manly pig chest. One-handed melee. Short-range leaps as a tank but doesn’t have the knockback his enemy mob counterpart does. Doesn’t seem to really excel at any role. Has spoken dialogue, but very few lines. No legacy/cartel unlock. Likes Luxury, Military Gear, Trophy gifts. Loves Weapons and Underworld gifts.

The lights are a bit ugly with decent effect. None of them light up a room, but instead shine a small area of the floor right beneath them. Red gives a sickly Sith glow, blue looks like a spotlight you’d see on an interrogations desk. Yellow… may as well not even work. The holo-text around them, at least from what I’m experiencing now, doesn’t seem to want to adjust when you move them around the ceiling, even if you leave/logout.

The mic stand is just the mic emote + music orb. The floor has roughly 10 dances taken from preexisting emotes, though one or two might be unique as I don’t recall ever seeing them while browsing through dance emotes. The bar, while round, does not rotate in place when set on a hook. It moves in an ovular fashion.

For those who might want the pet for SH purposes, be warned it counts as an npc and takes up an npc slot, complete with a long name. For whatever reason, the Halloween rakghoul pets do as well now. I imagine there are probably a few others that have been struck by this randomness, too.

    • Fred Garvin

“The Gamorrean can be dressed up, sans helmet. Has underclothes so you can’t show off that manly pig chest.”

This was taken directly from the RotJ shooting script.

    • infamous

10 kingpin tokens got you 4x Vectron BWL Wraith, 1 companion, and 30 certs? Sounds like BS to me. Even with 50 kingpin tokens I only got maybe 10 certs and that’s with some smuggler luck buff on as well.

      • CrumpetTrumpet

By numbers alone, getting 30 certs with 10 kingpin tokens is an impossibility.

What I meant was, in my first ten tokens -just testing my luck-, I got my first Wraith. Afterwards I ended up spending 5 million credits on more tokens, something like 600 smuggler tokens and 50 kingpins, leading to my current winnings. I stopped once I got the companion.

That’s not even counting who knows how many kingpins I won from playing the smuggler slots. I easily gambled away over 100 kingpins.

        • infamous

Ok, makes more sense. I am doing the same thing now. stacking up on 525 smuggler tokens and I get 90 – 100 kingpin tokens each time. Planning on saving couple of hundred kingpins and then I’ll try again. Hopefully with better results.

  • Alex G

There is also a T7 Customization available with the new event, that you are missing from this list…

    • Fred Garvin

Does the customization give T7 side-knob?

    • Horton

Am I crazy or is the “new” one they added actually the same as the Cartel Market one that’s been around a while? Both called “#7.” I A/B’d them on T7, and I didn’t see a difference.

      • Darth Twinge

Yeah its the same. I have the old CM version on my T-7.

  • Friends don’t let friends expose sideboob.

  • AbnerDoon

3 million converted to 1500 smuggler’s chips. Took ages to burn through this many chips.

    1x Vectron
    2x Gamorrean
    3x each deco
21x golden certificates left after deco purchases.

  • HMHero

Would be nice if these rubes let guild ships have all these decos.

  • Dr. Mike Wendell

I feel old. So many folks no longer understand the “I’ve got a golden ticket!” reference.

    • snakedoctor

You are old. Now help me find my Geritol.

  • HMHero

I cant believe they didnt give the new companion a name.

  • AbnerDoon

My luck which sucked in previous years completely turned around. About 6 million in and change walking away before the casino sends someone to break my legs.

  • Alexander Delorean

    2 mil later – no gammorean, 3rd Wraith and 20 golden certs…whadda luck ><

  • yellow-power ftw

5mill and no speeder nor gamorrean, just some certs which are useless to me since i got all previous rewards ://

  • zazil

    Can the piggy craft ?

    • Dr. Mike Wendell

Haven’t tried it but probably not. The other extra companions without story lines can’t so I doubt this one will either.

    • AbnerDoon

Gamorrean Bodyguard is like Shae and Ranos. He can craft and you can modify his armor.

  • Gelious

So I just won the Wraith speeder via Smuggler coins only. I had 1.9 kk when I started and 1.5kk when I got it.

  • Aeden Darko

Gamblers Party Floor is the best thing ever. Love my house nows. Lolz

    • Yup is an amazinfg deco

  • dazdazd

the wraith is not unlockable in collections :((( ?

  • Havik79

Looks like its time to update your info Dulfy, you do not have the free drops listed.
I just did ah, Blood Hunt (the first one on Rishi) solo mode as part of the SoR story, on the first boss you fight, with those pods around you and mandos who attack, it dropped 2 smugglers tokens, then against Joss and Vulk I got 2 kingpin tokens, then after beating Shae I got another smuggler token.
I assure you I am not mistaken, I got these on my guardian on EB which only has 1million credits so I have NOT played the even on that toon.

    • GuestJawa86

I was about to post the same until I saw this post. Was doing some FPs with my guild got Smuggler Tokens from the Foundry.

      • Havik79

Yeah it seems all FP drop tokens.

  • Alan

Whats the Gamorrean Guard with buff mean?

  • XK

    Darn…
New player here, and I just read that the golden certificates are no longer winnable thru 50/50 gambling (smuggler slots?)….

  • Mick Pearsall

i spent 25 – 30 million getting buff an running back an forth given up ended with 7 mounts tons of certificates an still no companion

  • fanboy

1.5 mill got the 30 certs for the rancor and got the Gamorrean Guard Companion from a jackpot so i did quite alright

  • Aleksey Melnychuk

Are mounts refundable with certificates? (Cruiser, Rancor and Vectrons)

    • Gelious

mounts yes. And you get achieve for buying them, not using them. Decos are not refundable.

  • Evan Sawatzky

ive spent over 50 mill and havent gotten a single jackpot this shit is broken and i have over 400 golden certs like wtf biofuckers

  • Dr. Mike Wendell

They announced the ending date – August 22nd, 2017

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=9370394#edit9370394

  • Gelious

So after running various PvE activities my Commando had 300+ Smuggler chips. After I had like 33 chips left, I got another Kingpin chip, Feeling Lucky Buff, and won jackpot with the Gamorrean. No millions spent.

  • Brendan Vilfroy

I’ve bought 4500 smuggler tokens so far, can’t tell you how many Kingpins I’ve played, and still no companion

  • Sean

Doing a more detailed analysis of the math, assuming that you always roll with the ‘Feeling Lucky’ buff, you have a 50% chance to have won a Gamorrean companion after 770 rolls; to illustrate how slowly your chance grows, you only have a 59.36% chance of having won a Gamorrean by 1000 rolls. Without the ‘Feeling Lucky’ buff, you don’t reach the 50% cumulative chance until 990 rolls. For the mount, with the ‘Feeling Lucky’ buff you have a 50% chance of winning it in 233 rolls, and without the buff you don’t reach a 50% chance of having won the mount until 301 rolls. Because of the higher base chance, if you always roll with the buff, you have a 95% chance of winning the mount in 1000 rolls, and a 90% chance in 1000 rolls without the buff.
(cumulative percentages computed by the summation of the chance for winning the reward on roll X — failing to win for X-1 rolls, then winning on roll X — if winning on roll 1 is .009%, on roll 2, having lost on roll 1, it’s .089919% [.9991%*.09%], making the chance to win _by_ roll 2 .018%; Excel is extremely useful for tabulating this out)

    • you can’t do calculation as that. It’s binomial law. You only can calculate the exact number of wins you can hope With 1112 rolls you can hope 1 win (Binomial hope is n*p = 1112*0.09%=1.0008) With 556 rolls you can hope 0,5 win.
So if you play multiple experiences with 556 rolls you will have near to 50% of experience with a win, but you can’t say that 770 rolls give you 50% chance of wins. That’s not true.
Binomial law give us the chance of k= 1 win with n = 770 rolls :
      P(k=1;n=770;p=0.09%) = 35% (more detailed valor is 0,34675496=34,675496%)
and with 1112 rolls you only have P(k=1;n=1112;p=0.09%) = 36,8% chance of winning (what not means you will win with only 1112 token)

Chance of winning will nevers grow as high (near to 90% as you said is quite impossible with these numbers) with so low chance et so low number of rolls.

  • Wild Horse Fantasy

Millions of credits, I’ve lost count. I have won about 6 speeders, enough certs for 2 dance floors, assorted lights and 2 gambling mics. one rancor. Blown up multiple machines. and still no gamorrean! :/
